Invitational Leadership
Overview
This presentation starts by asking the question all leaders want answered, 'How can I be a great leader?' In a diverse, complex and connected world leadership is no easy task, yet good leadership remains critical when it comes to building, growing and sustaining successful business. The presentation avoids the temptation of trying to answer the question by merely articulating a list of 'things' a leader need do in order to lead well. It rather suggests that before we can answer the 'how' question, we need to first explore five vital preliminary questions, namely:
The presentation then paints a graphic picture in each of these critical areas, contrasting the past with the unfolding future before arriving back at the starting point of 'How can I be a great leader?' With the backdrop in place and one that has been coloured with provocative thoughts, ideas, suggestions, images and case studies, we are now well positioned to answer the question which marked our starting point. At this point practical skills are shared and/or discussed - skills relevant to the leader's task, context, metaphor, measure and challenge. This juncture offers the opportunity to discuss/workshop the content and to be context specific to those present. Naturally this will depend on the time available, the objectives and setting. The powerful message that is 'Invitational Leadership' offers a contextually relevant framework through which leaders everywhere can lead confidently in a changing, complex and at times, confusing world. Invitational Leadership has grown from an international setting where it has been shared, discussed and debated with leading leadership thinkers and practitioners from places diverse as Russia, China, Vietnam, India, Africa, Thailand, Samoa, Japan, Cambodia, United Kingdom, Australia, the United States and many other countries. This exposure and influence has woven a rich international thread into the message, presentation, relevance and application of Invitational Leadership: The Future of Leadership. Invitational Leadership: The Future of Leadership represents a significant offering in the ongoing international conversation around topic of leadership. This thought-provoking and engaging presentation is able to nimbly balance the conceptual, big-picture with practical, day-to-day skills and behaviour necessary for good leadership in today ... and tomorrow's world.
